SUN TEMPLE.
Previous to 1915 this was a great mound,
on which grew trees, bushes, etc. In that year
the mound was excavated by Dr. J. Walter
Fewkes, of the Smithsonian Institution, disclosing
this remarkable ruin, which is in the form of the
letter "D", with the flat side toward the south.
The structure is 131 feet long. The walls are
double, they are four feet thick and in places
nearly twelve feet high.
