On Palomar Mountain, 69 miles north of San
Diego, is the largest astronomical observatory in
the world. Engineers at the California Institute
of Technology spent many years alone in the
grinding and polishing of the great 200 inch
mirror lens, the largest reflector known to man.
When completed, this observatory will consist
of seven buildings, costing $6,000,000.00.
