JAMES AND STEARNS HALLS, AMHERST COLLEGE,

These freshman dormitories are named for Arthur
Curtiss James, 1889, long a trustee and generous
benefactor of the College, and his father, D.
Willis James, and for William A. Stearns, fourth
president of the College. The tower in center is
the Civil War Memorial.
