Carson City, located 30 miles south of Reno, was named after
the famous pioneer scout, Kit Carson. It is the smallest state
capital city in America and is the county seat of Ormsby
County. Originally a trading post on the Overland Route, a
permanent townsite was laid out in 1853. Nearby is rich
farming land and the silver camp of Virginia City, the city
that saved our nation.
