The bullet went through the seam on
the right side of the collar and pierced
the carotid artery. This mortal wound was
not discovered immediately; the physicians
supposed the shot to have penetrated the
heart, they cut the left side and then the
whole back of the coat. The wound could
not be lokalised untill the garment had
been removed.
