FORT McHENRY NATIONAL MONUMENT
Baltimore, Maryland
The repulse of a British naval attack against this fort in the
War of 1812 inspired Francis Scott Key to write the "Star-
Spangled Banner," after viewing the bombardment while
being held aboard an enemy ship. Across the Patapsco River
lies the Canton section of Baltimore's port.
