THE 1982 WORLD'S FAIR (May 1 - October 31,
1982), Knoxville, Tennessee. The six-story United
States Pavilion highlights America's work in energy
research, production and conservation. A 5,000
square-foot solar collector runs the entire length of
the Pavilion's top edge. This energy-themed inter-
national event is the first World's Fair to be held in
the United States since 1974 and the first fully
sanctioned World's Fair ever held in the south-
eastern United States.
