Situated on a 1,000 acre wooded campus seven miles from
downtown Olympia, Washington, THE EVERGREEN STATE COL-
LEGE serves as an educational, cultural and recreational resource
for the residents of the state capital and Washington State.
Recognized nationwide as a lowcost public institution that offers a
high-quality liberal arts education, Evergreen has graduated more
than 7,000 students since opening its doors in 1971 and currently
enrolls nearly 3,000. In honor of the campus' 3,000 feet of
saltwater beach, college athletic teams compete under the ban-
ner of the Fighting Geoduck-King Clam of the Puget Sound
region.
