SMELTER SMOKESTACK

Hurley, New Mexico
This smelter of Chino Mine Division of the
Kennecott Copper Company is the site of the
concentration mill for the Santa Rita "Open Pit"
mine. This view shows famous towering smoke-
stack which can be seen for miles around. Ore
cars at end of street make up a whole train
ready for smelter. The town of Hurley is directly
connected by railroad with Santa Rita. Formerly
a Company Village it is now a community with
all business facilities.
