GREETINGS FROM LORDSBURG
HIDALGO CO., NEW MEXICO
"Air Capital of the Southwest"
The traveler arriving in Lordsburg after
a long journey from the East or West is
immediately impressed by the hospitality of
this typical western town. The county is
named for General Miguel Hidalgo y Costillo,
who was leader of the war of Mexicana
Independence, and the town was settled first
by the Spaniards seeking gold. It became a
mecca for American prospectors, miners and
cattlemen, and to this day this influence
prevails. The altitude is 4,245 feet and is
: considered the most equable climate in the
8 United States, and exceptionally healthful.
