ART PUBLISHERS TO THEIR MAJESTIES THE KING AND QUEEN,
ELKS LODGE. The Benevolent Protective Order of
Elks maintains a successful "Lodge' in Lynchburg. This
order was founded in 1869 by members of the theatrical pro-
fession in New York, but now admits men of other vocations.
In addition to the Grand Lodge, there are 820 sublodges, with
a membership in 1903 of 130,000. Thus far, about $1,250,000,
or an annual average of $25,000, have been disbursed in charity.
