This is the center of activity in Balboa Park. Sur-
rounding the Plaza are the group of buildings used dur-
ing the 1915-16 Panama-California International Exposi-
tion and the 1935-36 California Pacific International
Exposition. These buildings are among the finest exam-
ples of Spanish Renaissance architecture in the world.
The California Tower, which was designed by the famous
architect, Bertram Goodhue, has become the symbol of
San Diego.
