Front:
SOUTH AMERICAN POLICY.
To THE EDITOR OF THE HERALD:-
Italy is simply setting a good example td
Great Britain and the United States-we ha4-
should likewise occupy the adjacent terri-
tories of Central and South America, and
our kinsman, Asia Minor.
The Turkish Empire has been the land of
perpetual massacre, and South America
that of periodical revolution. Tripoli is to
be safeguarded, but how about Asia Minor
and the Americas? Our Monroe Doctrine
makes us responsible for order in most
of this hemisphere, and Britain's Disraeli:
for that in Turkey in Asia.
Unless
Powers,/the United States, Great Britain
and Russia, take acțion in imitation of
France and Italy, the indirectly interested
ones, Germany and Austria, will surely
presume to, which will cause far more
trouble than any mere possible opposition
of various native populations in the terri
tories to be pacified.
