NORRIS DAM, TVA project on the Clinch River in north-
U east Tennessee, now does its part in flood control. The three
steel drum gates in the top of the spillway section are capable of
ż raising the level of the reservoir a total of 14 feet, and when the
water reaches the top the lake contains approximately 2,500,000
acre- feet. This dam, 265 feet high and 1,860 feet long, helps
control seasonal floods, aids navigation on the Tennessee River
in months of low flow and provides for production of electric
power.
