The Ladies' Pond. Battersea Park, which is one of
the most popular of London parks, is on the south bank of the
Thames, in the S.W. district. It covers 185 acres and was laid
out in 1852-58 at a cost of £318,000. The lake is among the
numerous attractions which it offers, the boats for hire thereon
being in great demand at holiday seasons.
