Additional Details:
The Frog Pond is a shady, shallow pool of water in the Common, but why it was given the name is a mystery, as it was never known to harbor a frog. In 1848, it was the scene of the formal introduction of the public water system, for which celebration James Russell Lowell wrote his "Ode on Water."
