The Belgian Royal House Series 8765 Albert, King of the Belgians, whose valour and fortitude have won him imperishable renown, was born 8th April, 1875, and succeeded his uncle, Leopold II, on the 17th December, 1909. He married in October, 1900, the Duchess Elizabeth, of the Royal House of Bavaria, a worthy and constant helpmate, refusing to be separated from her galiant husband, come weal, come woe, and untiring in her efforts to ameliorate the suffering of their sick and wounded soldiers. Their eldest son, Prince Leopold, Duke of Brabant, was born 3rd November, 1901, while Prince Charles was born 10th October, 1903, and Princess Marie on 4th August, 1906 |
