The Rhinoceros ranges from Abyssinia to Cape Colony, but the attacks of the white sportsmen are rapidly reducing its numbers. The male measures, standing, over six feet at the shoulders. It browses in the open coun- try. The Rhinoceros is the largest and most powerful terrestrial animal, with the excep- tion of the Elephant, and is usually harmless. While apparently so clumsily formed, it can run with great speed. The flesh is sometimes used for food. TOLD IN A FEW WORDS Chas.
