TUCK PRESIDENT
FRANKLIN PIERCE was born in Hillsborough, N. H.
on Nov. 23, 1804, and at the age of 49 years was inaugurated
President. He was a candidate of the Democratic party, but
his election was almost unanimous, only four states casting their
electoral votes against him. He died Oct. 8, 1869.
