rio
'io Vista, or Brazos del Rio (Arms of the River), as it was
called in 1857, was first established by Colonel N. H. Davis,
near the junction of Cache Slough and the Sacramento River,
which was part of the Ulpinos grant. When the settlement was
obliterated by rains, a common problem at that time, the residents
moved further inland, higher in the Montezuma Hills.
Since 1936, Rio Vista was discovered to have gas and is situated
on the greatest gas field in Northern California.
