SERENE BRONZE BUDDHA was given to the Lahaina Jodo Mission by Masao Omori, a Japanese
businessman who maintains a residence on the Mission grounds. An exact replica of the great bronze
Buddha Daibutsu in Kamakura, Japan, it commemorates the Japanese immigrants who came to Hawaii
and contributed so much to its growth and development.
静かにおわす青銅の大仏……浄土宗ラハイナ別院の構内に住む日本人事業家、大森正雄氏によって、ハワイの今日の発展に寄与
した日本人移民を記念して同院に寄贈されたもので、日本の鎌倉大仏の複製である。
