SHELBURNE MUSEUM, Shelburne, Vermont
Once the stock & pillory was a shameful place of public punishment. Today visi-
tors at Shelburne Museum enjoy being playfully trapped in front of Castleton Jail
(ca. 1890), made of Vermont slate. Left is the Shaker Horsestand Shed (ca. 1834)
with over 2,000 woodworking tools, household utensils, Shaker items and lighting
devices. Beyond the Horseshoe Barn displays coaches, carriages & sleighs.
