| Fort Stockton, in the western tip of Texas, is widely known as the Spring City of Texas. These same springs which supply water for swimming and irrigation projects today, brought earliest travelers and settlers through this section, and soon after the Civil War led to establishment of the army post here for protection of travelers from marauding Indians. |
