HARVESTING CRANBERRIES
in Cranberry Country, Massachusetts
When the tart berries are red-ripe, the bogs are flooded and
machines whip the water and the vines. The berdies float to the
surface and are then skimmed or suctioned off into waiting
trucks. Some itinerant harvesters travel the length of Cape Cod
and Eastern Massachusetts much like the combines do in the R
wheat fields of the mid-west.
