To give better transit facilities to
the growing population in upper
Manhattan and the Bronx it has
been necessary to add a third track
to the Elevated Road. Where the
streets were narrow, this was ac-
complished by building a new line
above the old. All of this work was
done without a minute's interrup-
tion to the service then in operation.
