Located on the Bluff overlooking downtown Pittsburgh, Duquesne University was founded in Pittsburgh in 1878 by a band of priests of the Holy Ghost Order who had been banned from Germany. It was known as the Pittsburgh College until 1911 when its name was changed to Duquesne University. The first Catholic University in Pennsylvania, it is now in the midst of a $13 million expansion and modernization program. |
