St. Louis Cathedral and Jackkson Square. Erected in 1792 at a cost of $50,000 and rebuilt in 1851. The site on which the St. Louis Cathedral stands was selected in 1718 by Bienville for a place of worship. In 1724 a structure of brick was erected and known as the Parish Church of St. Louis.
