Artesia was founded in 1905 and as the nick-
name testifies "The Cleanest City in New Mexico''
is a pleasant place to live. Artesia is on the old
Chisum Trail, a major shipping point for cattle
and sheep. Farming, ranching, oil, and potash
are major industries in this town that still
retains the friendly atmosphere of the Old West.
