Crowning jewel at Greater Pittsburgh is the ultra-
modern terminal building. The seven story terminal
is a masterpiece of planning functional architecture,
from the Canadian black granite outside columns and
Missouri buff marble interior, to the revolutionary
“finger dock” system of design. The main East-West
instrument runway, largest of three, extends 8000
feet to handle the fastest jets and long-range
bombers. The observation decks accommodate 10,000
people.
