Las Cruces abounds in historical interest
The consumation of the Gadsden Purchase
was celebrated in La Mesilla in 1854. Mesilla
was the hangout of the infamous "Billy
The Kid". The middle of the 19th century
saw both the Butterfield and the Old Chis-
holm Trails pass thru here. It is a fast
growing city and this view shows the new
modern Police and Fire Department building.
