Established in 1866 by the Daughters of the Cross, the
present structure of St. Vincent's College and Academy
was built in 1906 of brick made from clay on the
grounds. It is situated on a rolling and wooded 100
acre campus which also includes the institution's truck
and dairy farms and poultry yards, and a little ceme-
tery in which are buried many nuns who played heroic
parts in the yellow fever epidemics in Shreveport.
