The Municipal Building is the first building erected
in Illinois under the Public Building Commission Act
of 1955. The Public Building Commission of Spring-
field was organized in 1956 by the City Council,
with the cooperation of all local Governing Bodies.
The Fountain in the foreground was donated by the
Roman Cultural Society of Springfield in 1962.
