THE FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH on
Pleasant Street near Main Street was built in 1895 al 1897 a
a cost of about $100,000 exclusive of land It was dedicated
in December 1897 and replaced what for many years was land
mark and known as "The Brown Church burned
in January 1894. The Church Society was organized in 1740.
The Rev. Allan Hudson was installed as Pastor in December
1897.
