SACHEM POND
BLOCK ISLAND, RHODE ISLAND
Separated from the ocean by the narrow strip of
land, this large and lovely body of fresh water was
source of pure drinking water for many ships
that anchored off Sandy Point in the days of the
sailing vessel. In the hazy distance is the old North
Light and the ocean beyond.
