Jesus, followed by his disciples, is distinguished by his dark hair and beard. He passes a Roman soldier who stands quietly. The men in the foreground with their heads covered might be Pharisees; their hands are hidden in their robes. The shadows are especially interesting , reducing everyone to a shapless blob. The The people on the Mount don't attempt to follow Jesus; many are slumped in thought or fatigue. The image is signed " Max Klinger, 1877"; handwritten on reverse: "Berlin 1920". Unused; excellent condition.
