Six miles from Honolulu is the Pali, or precipice, where,
from an elevation of 1,200 feet, bursts upon one's view a
sweep of land and sea that holds one breathless and enthralled.
It was here that Kamehameha the Great, having driven the
army of Oahuans to the extreme edge of the precipice, forced
them over its side to instant doom. thus completing the
conquest of Oahu.
