Kentucky has its State Capitol in the quaint city of
Frankfort. Kentucky, sometimes referred to as the "Blue
Grass State," was admitted to the Union in 1792. It has
an area of 40, 400 square miles, and has as its State flower
the golden rod. Kentucky, so called since 1782, derived
its name from its principal river.
