Hinchingbrooke House is an Elizabethan mansion,
dating from the middle of the 16th century, situated in the
vicinity of Huntingdon. It is the seat of the Earl of Sand-
wich, and was originally the residence of the Cromwell
family, from whom it was purchased by the Montagus in
1537. The house contains some interesting portraits, and
is surrounded by a charming garden, a corner of which, the
Japanese Garden, is here shown.
