Compton Place, the beautiful residence of the Duke of
Devonshire, is situated between Eastbourne Old Town and
the popular and modern seaside resort. The gardens
are charmingly laid out, and enjoy the reputation of
being one of the finest specimens of landscape gardening
in the country. Once a year, at the annual flower
show, the grounds are thrown open to the public, a
much appreciated privilege.
