Pont-y-Pair is an old stone bridge which was built
across the River Llugwy during the 15th century by
a native mason named Howell. The Bridge owing
to its beautiful situation has formed the subject of many
a painting, and its charming surroundings well warrant
such a prominence being given to it. Pont-y-Pair
literally means "The Bridge of the Cauldron".
