THE CRAWFORD HOUSE stands at the top of a divide
and within a short distance from the hotel are the sources
of two rivers, the Ammonoosuc and the Saco. The for-
mer finally empties into Long Island Sound and the
latter into the Atlantic, north of Portland, Me. They
both start within two hundred yards from each other.
