Additional Details:
The Uganda railway crosses the Tsavo river by the Tsavo bridge. This is in the jungle region of the coast, and the lions here were remarkably belligerent when the railway was being built. They actually contested the building of the bridge and the railway, killing many of the workmen, even invading freight cars and dragging workmen from their bunks. Finally a hunter had to be brought into the country. He shot several lions and the workmen regained courage and went on with the building of the road. In the region on the Uganda railway Ex-president Roosevelt bagged the most big game. "Roosevelt Tour" published by Arthur Capper, Topeka, Kansas copyrighted, 1909, by Arthur Capper, Topeka, Kansas
