NASSAU POST CARD DISTRIBUTION CO., 73 ERDMAN AVE., PRINCETON, N. J.
329-NASSAU HALL, PRINCETON UNIVERSITY
PRINCETON, N. J.
Completed in 1756, Nassau Hall served
at different times as a barracks and hospital
for Continental and British troops. It was the
scene of the last stand of the British in the
Battle of Princeton. In 1776 the first Legisla-
ture of the State of New Jersey convened in
it. From June to November, 1783, the Continen-
tal Congress sat there, thanked Washington
in person for his conduct of the war, and re-
ceived news that the Treaty of Peace had
been signed. The names of Princeton's war
dead from the Revolution onward are in-
scribed on the marble wall of the Atrium in
the center of the building.
