Cascade Locks, Columbia River, Oregon, constructed
by the United States Government, around the obstruc-
tions in the river, at this point, raising steamers 20 feet,
to enable them to pass around the Cascades. Several
steamere make this run daily. This ride takes one
through the Columbia Gorge, which surpasses the Palis-
ades of the Hudson.
