Montcalm House. Louis Joseph, Marquis de
Gezan de Saint Veran, was born near
Nimes, February 29th, 1712, and assumed com-
mand of the French troops in Canada, 1756. On
September 14th, 1759, he was mortally wounded
at the St. Louis gate, and died the following
morning.
