ABSECON LIGHTHOUSE, Atlantic City,
N. J. commissioned in 1857 after twenty year
crusade by Dr. Jonathan Pitney, "The Father
of Atlantic City", guided mariners for three
quarters of a century. Its beam, from the
Fresnel lens, 167 feet above ground was vis-
ible 20 miles at sea. Restored during New
Jersey's Tercentenary year by the City of
Atlantic City 1964. Open to the public.
