One of the fastest vessels in the navy, having a speed of nearly
23 knots per hour. 412 feet in length and 58 feet in breadth,
displacing, when fully loaded, nearly 8,500 tons of water.
Horse-power, 18,509. Cost, about $2,725,000. Carries one
8-inch, two 6-inch guns and eight 4-inch weapons in addition
to a strong secondary battery. Complement, 28 officers and
465 men.
