In the year 1892 the now famous Grid Eleven played
its first game with the Birmingham Athletic Club. The
year 1892 is considered the outstanding year in the His-
tory of the University of Alabama. Since the year 1907
the Grid Eleven has been known as "The Crimson Tide"
and its fame is so great that when the average man
thinks of "Bama" he also always thinks of "The Crimson
Tide."
