I am deeply concerned about the safety of Maria
Nonna Santa Clara. Amnesty International
believes that the circumstances of her
"disappearance" on 26 April 1989 indicate that
she was arrested by members of the security
forces and is being held in unacknowledged
detention. I urge you to confirm her whereabouts
and to ensure that she is either promptly released
or is charged with some recognizable criminal
offense. Finally, I respectfully seek assurances
that she is being humanely treated.
