by J. F. Holland in 1900-immediately aroused
the envy of every nation in Europe. Today, the
finest of the world's undersea craft are built
here, and we are supplying the Allies as well
as our own navy. The boat shown here is cleared
for action and is already partly submerged. Note
that even while on the surface it offers a very
small target to an enemy ship, and when sub-
merged it is very difficult prey for the most agile
destroyers and the most accurate gunners.
